REFRAMD started with a simple, frustrating question: why don't glasses fit?
Not "why don't I like how they look," why don't they physically sit right. Slipping down. Pinching at the sides. Sitting crooked because the nose bridge underneath was never designed for a bridge like ours. For years, the answer we'd been given, implicitly, by an entire industry, was that the problem was our faces.
It isn't. It's the fit.
Founded in Berlin in 2020, REFRAMD set out to design eyewear the way it should have worked from the start: around the actual shape of a nose bridge, not an industry average built for one narrow range of faces. Originally, frames designed specifically for people of African, Caribbean and wider African diaspora descent, whose bridge shapes mainstream eyewear consistently got wrong. As we built, we realized the same modular approach could serve far more people than we first imagined. Every face has a bridge shape standard sizing wasn't built to accommodate.
That's the idea behind every frame we make: wide, high and low bridge profiles, engineered across multiple sizes, so fit isn't a guessing game or a compromise you learn to live with.
Every pair is 3D printed to order in Germany and France, in lightweight, durable nylon. Precision manufacturing that lets us build to a bridge shape instead of a size chart. It's also why we can develop new shapes quickly, and why nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be discounted.
Since then, that approach has been recognized with a 3D Pioneers Challenge win, a Google for Startups BFF Award, and 100% Optical's New Designer of the Year, but the metric that actually matters to us is simpler: does it fit, on the first try, without a single adjustment.
REFRAMD makes glasses for the face you actually have.
